Perfect Bound Book Cover Stocks Offered
At TPS, you can choose one of the following stocks for perfect bound book covers.
- 8 pt C1S: A lightweight and economical choice, offering a coated surface on the outside and an uncoated surface on the inside.
- 10 pt C1S: A popular choice for paperbacks, this slightly thicker stock features a coated surface on the outside and an uncoated surface on the inside.
- 12 pt C1S: Much heavier than 10 pt, this stock is yet another favorite for paperbacks. This stock ensures your book withstands frequent handling and also has a coated surface on the outside and an uncoated surface on the inside.
- The 8 pt, 10 pt, and 12 pt cover stocks are also available as CS2 (coated both sides). Speak with your representative if a heavier stock is required.

Case Bound Covers: Case bound covers (hard covers) can be wrapped with various materials including, cloth, paper printed with your design, Rainbow products, and Ecological Fibers materials.

- Lamination: At TPS, we offer specialized laminate to enhance the touch and feel of your book. Our gloss laminate provides a shiny, reflective finish that enhances colors while protecting from scratches and moisture. Our soft-touch matte laminate adds a velvety texture for a luxurious feel, giving your cover a unique and premium appeal. These finishes not only improve the appearance but also ensure durability, making your book cover stand out and last longer.
- Foil Stamping: We can enhance your book cover with metallic accents in gold, silver, or other colors to highlight titles, logos, or design elements. This foil stamping technique adds a touch of elegance, making your cover stand out with eye-catching shine by fusing metallic foil to your cover or jacket using a heated die. TPS offers many foil colors as standard options. Stamping can be used on perfect bound, case bound covers or dust jackets.
- Embossing and Debossing: At TPS, we utilize a Kluge EFH 14×22 sheetfed press to achieve high-quality embossing, debossing, blind embossing, and foil stamping, enhancing the appearance of your book cover. The Kluge press uses a custom die, created from your artwork, under high pressure and heat to make a precise impression on the cover material. This process allows you to feel the design—raised on specific parts of the cover, adding a tactile dimension that draws attention for embossing and depression for debossing. Blind embossing, which does not use ink or foil, creates a raised area that is the same color as the material, adding a subtle yet sophisticated touch.
- Matte Varnish/Spot Gloss: TPS offers matte varnish and spot gloss to highlight specific areas of your cover. Generally, most of the cover is coated with a matte varnish, except for the glossy portions you want to highlight. The glossy areas capture light and bring life to the cover, creating a striking contrast. This technique augments visual appeal, making titles, images, or logos pop, and adding depth and dimension to your book cover.
